His most famous work on Sufism, written eight centuries ago, is the Mantiq-ut-Tayr, or the "Colloquy of the Birds," an allegorical poem in which the gifted Mystic describes the quest of the Birds (symbolising Sufi pilgrims) for the Simurg (the Lord of Creation).
