Sultan currently sits on the Board of Directors of Interfaith Peace Builders.
She continues to study the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and in so doing hopes, through her writing and activism, to help forge peace in the region.
Her first novel, The Syrian, a political thriller, was published in 2014. and in her recounting of the 2006 Israeli-Hezbollah war in Tragedy in South Lebanon.
The experience left her with a mind-broadening education about the realities of Middle East politics, which she hauntingly depicts in her 2005 memoir A Beirut Heart: One Woman\'s War.
