The reader experiences adapting to life in a free-fire zone among caustic veterans, the fear produced by baptism of fire, and the terrifying incident of a deadly ambush. Also, the readers will endure the survival pipeline from initial medevac to aid stations, field hospitals, and finally, far away from the conflict, in modern military hospitals. About the Author The author spent most of 1967 serving as a combat writer/photographer with the First Brigade, 101st Airborne in Vietnam. His stories and photos were published world-wide and he was awarded a Bronze Star. His original coverage of two events was the foundation for two Medal of Honor winners. In addition, he served in the 82nd Airborne and attended UCLA where he won the prestigious Samuel Goldwyn Literary Award. He holds a master\'s degree in Southeast Asian Studies. He has traveled extensively in Africa, Europe and Southeast Asia. Currently, he resides close to the ocean in Southern California.
