She has written for The London Review of Books , The Economist , and The Guardian , among others; was a judge for the 2019 PEN Literary Science Writing Award; is a co-founder and member of the editorial board for the bilingual Arabic-English feminist journal Kohl ; and works as an ethics consultant for Doctors Without Borders. She holds degrees in astrophysics and philosophy from Oxford and Cambridge.
