About the Author.
This is their story.
Working with their neighbors, they created the town of Bridgton, Maine.
Together, they suffered the hardships of the wilderness, fires, epidemics, and wild beasts.
His wife Anna soon joined him bringing to the new settlement its most unusual resident, a ten year old African slave girl, Cloe.
He hewed out a clearing in the woods and built a sturdy cabin.
