While serving on the first board of directors at the Center for Nonviolent Communication, she launched the NVC community in Seattle and cofounded Freedom Project, an organization offering NVC and mindfulness trainings inside prisons.

She returned to university chaplaincy and began facilitating Nonviolent Communication in the prison as well as in the community.
