He produced the programme in all the then Test cricket playing countries, also commentating himself on around 40 Tests.
So in 2012, the two embarked on a tour that saw them take their hilarious stories onto the stage in a two-man show.
Peter Baxter joined the BBC in 1965 in Radio Outside Broadcasts and took over as producer of Test Match Special in 1973, a role he held until his retirement in 2007.
