Born and raised in New York, she moved to South Florida during high school. She attended the University of Maryland where she earned a bachelors, masters and Ph. D. She worked in college administration for over two decades and lived in Baltimore until moving to Israel in 2010. She and her husband are active volunteers in their community just outside of Jerusalem. They have children in Israel and in the US.
