Most recently he has created the website Today in Conservation (todayinconservation.com), which includes stories from the history of conservation and the environment for every date of the year.
Widely beloved for his nearly 300-student class on Conservation of Natural Resources, Nielsen continues to give back to the university: He will donate $1 from the sale of every book to a scholarship fund at NC State..
He is author of two recent books, Provost (2013) and Nature\'s Allies (2017).
Nielsen, who was a college dean and the university\'s provost as well as a distinguished undergraduate teaching professor, provides his unique insights--and humorous style--to tell about the people, places and events that have shaped NC State over the decades.
